As road users, riders need some tips to stay safe. The thrill of the two wheels, beating the traffic, just name it! Riding is beautiful! In fact, many like to call it a life-changing means of commuting.

Be it new or seasoned riders, there are tips to keep in mind to help you ride safely and avoid accidents. For new riders, you may have learned these things while training to ride, and for experienced riders, you may feel these things are part of you already. Regardless, a little reminder won’t hurt. So, let’s dive right into this article and find out some essential tips to keep in mind every time you set out to ride.

Take Note of Road Conditions

Common road conditions to watch out for are wet and slippery types. Beyond the common types are wet leaves, potholes, gravel, and other hindrances. True, you may drive on a particular road frequently, yet it’s essential to pay attention to the condition of the road every time you use it. And this is because the condition of the road may not remain the same. A once perfect road may be doused with wet leaves or greasy substances. You’ll have to pay attention to spot these changes. To take note of changes on the road, you need to always pay attention and be careful. So, don’t get carried away by your thoughts or your surroundings. Of course, you can enjoy the view around when riding, yet it’s important to pay attention to avoid unfortunate occurrences.

Be Visible

Make yourself visible to motorists when riding. Many accidents have resulted from motorists hitting riders. In most cases, motorists claim not to have seen a rider until they hit them. So, always make yourself visible when riding. Pay attention to junctions where motor vehicles join a major road. Stay alert and use your horn to announce your presence. Please, don’t assume they’ve seen you, and relax. No, even when you think you’ve been seen or have made eye contact with the driver, stay alert to react fast if something goes wrong.

Another instance that requires a rider to pay keen attention is when overtaking cars in a queue. Always use your horn in this situation to alert motorists who may be attempting to make a U-turn or open a car door. Chances are they can’t see you in the mirror, so you need to alert them.

Low-Speed Controls

You’ll often find yourself in slow traffic trying to maneuver your way. In this situation, you need to learn how to drive at a low speed as you find space to move into. Balancing your weight, using the throttle and clutch a little, will help you stay steady. Additionally, focusing on the small path the bike will move through is equally important. To learn this effectively, you need to take out time to learn. Visit an open area at your leisure and practice how to move at low speed. Practice U-turns, riding Zig-zag, and coming to a stop in a balanced position.

Be Defensive

Riders are often advised to ride defensively. In essence, you don’t be aggressive on the road. However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ride with confidence. Just anticipate possible dangers and be proactive. When on a major highway, stay in the middle of the lane so a motor vehicle driver won’t take it as an invitation to come close and force you to a tiny space. Be observant; look around to assess the situation around you. When trying to overtake in a bid to switch to another lane, it’s best to do so between two cars beside each other. This is because drivers are less likely to move to another land when another car is the spot they want to move into.

Lock Your Bike

Bikes are one of the easiest automobiles to steal. To make matters worse, many motorbikes do not have a good security system to prevent theft. It, however, sounds funny that thieves may sometimes steal a bike as a whole. The bikes are lifted into trucks or vans. The best way to prevent bike theft is to get a good chain to keep it locked when you park outside. When you fix a lock, always attach it to a strong object. Also, suspend the chain to make it harder to break because when a chain is placed on the ground, it’s easier to break.

Alternatively, you should aim to always park in a crowded area — this would prevent theft or at least make it harder for thieves to attempt. If you go about with a bike cover, then you may cover it to hide it from sight — it might be more effective than you think.

These tips are beneficial for all riders regardless of their experience. So keep them in mind because they may be the best piece of riding advice you’d ever receive.

Motorcycles have become especially popular in our country over the past 10 years. If in Soviet times a motorcycle was considered primarily a rural transport, now this stereotype has been dispelled. Motorcycles are actively used in cities, because it is very convenient in urban traffic, economical and quite simple and cheap in service and repair (if you do not take the expensive models of motorcycles).

However, if a person chooses a two-wheeled vehicle, it should be taken into account that motor vehicles are divided into two main types – motorcycles and mopeds (scooters). These vehicles differ from each other, despite the similar principle of action. Therefore, before buying two-wheeled transport, many people have a question – what is better: a motorcycle or a scooter?
What is the difference between a motorcycle, moped and scooter?

Before we figure out what the main differences between mopeds and motorcycles, first we need to figure out what a moped is and what a scooter is. A moped gets its name from the original design of a bicycle with a motor. Therefore, its name is deciphered as “MOTOR + PEDALS”. The old mopeds were indeed equipped with pedals, not a kickstarter, and mopeds with a kickstarter foot were called “Mokik”. However, this name has not caught on, and the name “moped” is used much more often.

A modern moped is very similar to a motorcycle, but inferior in performance, smaller in size and carrying capacity. In addition, mopeds have less engine power than a classic motorcycle. Machinery with an engine capacity of up to 50 cm3 can be considered a moped. Management of such transport on the road is carried out both by hands and feet (gearbox switching, foot brake).

Scooter is a vehicle similar in characteristics to a moped. The engine volume here is also 50 cm3. However, the design here is different. First, the gearbox on the scooter is not a foot, but a variator. The transmission uses a V-belt, not a chain, as on a moped or motorcycle. That’s why you don’t have to change gears with your feet. The brakes are made in the form of handles. Therefore, during the ride, you can control it only with your hands. In this regard, the scooter has a special design in the form of a convenient platform for the feet. So, is a scooter a moped or a motorcycle? In terms of power, the standard scooter can rather be compared to a moped. However, there are models, the engine volume of which exceeds 50 cm3. If the question concerns the category of rights, here everything depends on the volume of the engine.

A motorcycle is a vehicle with larger dimensions, larger wheel radius, and more power. The engine displacement exceeds 50 cm3. The engines on motorcycles may also be two-cylinder, while mopeds and scooters use exclusively single-cylinder engines. In addition, some models of motorcycles have mounts for attaching a side trailer (so-called “sidecar”). In this case, however, you will need a different category to legally drive them.

In front-motor bicycles, the electric motor is located in the middle of the front wheel. Wiring and battery installation in front-mounted bicycles is relatively simple. Generally, in a front-motor bicycle, the motor pulls the cyclist forward.

The main features and benefits of front-mounted electric bicycles are as follows:

  • The installation and configuration of front-mounted electric bicycles is relatively easier compared to rear-mounted bicycles. This is because front-mounted electric bicycles generally do not have a gear system.
  • Front-mounted motors help distribute the total load between the front and rear wheels of the e-bike. The front wheel takes the weight of the engine, and the weight of the person is mostly transferred to the rear of the e-bike.
  • In addition, the front motor location system is isolated from the rest of the bike. This separate arrangement makes it easier to maintain the bicycle without affecting the motor.

Listed below are some of the limitations of front-mounted electric bicycles:

  • One limitation of front-mounted bicycles is that they usually come with low motor power, such as 250 watts or 350 watts.
  • This is because, unlike a rear-mounted bike, the bike’s front fork lacks the structural platform needed to support a powerful motor. Consequently, your choices become limited in motor power.
  • Electric bikes with a front motor can usually have traction problems at low speeds. This is due to the weight distribution in front-engine models.

Tricycles, although they began to attract the attention of road users relatively recently, appeared in the 18th century. At that time, the audience was presented with a three-wheeled steam-powered vehicle capable of travelling 5 km. Today it is a huge category of vehicles, combining configurations with three wheels. They can be with a motor, without a motor, open, closed, with horizontal, vertical landing.

In the common vocabulary, the words “trike” and “tricycle” are often interchangeable. To clarify, the former is a subcategory of the latter. Trikes include three-wheeled motorcycles, which have one front and two rear wheels, located symmetrically to the axle, and their technical characteristics allow to move on public roads. A category A license is not enough to drive a tricycle vehicle. If you own a model with a 50cc engine and a loaded mass of 550 kg, you will need a category B1. B license holders can drive trikes and other three-wheeled vehicles without problems.

Own motorcycle – the dream of many men, although there are also ladies who ride two-wheeled vehicles. For some people, riding a motorcycle is not only a hobby, a way of traveling, but even a way of life. However, it is worth remembering that driving this vehicle requires significant skills.

What should be considered when choosing your first motorcycle?

For some, the most important is the volume of the engine, for others the type of design and usability. But first you should think about for what purposes it will be used. If you are planning longer trips on a motorcycle, it may turn out that the rider of your dreams is completely unsuitable for it, because after half an hour of riding you have a spine pain. You have to consider what roads you will be riding on, will the motorcycle be your primary means of transportation or should it serve you occasionally?

Each of the answers you give to the above questions is important because through them you have a chance to eliminate a vehicle that absolutely does not fit your needs.

Is your first motorcycle new or used?

Before you choose a particular model, you have to decide on a budget and where to look for a motorcycle in the first place – among used two-wheelers or brand new? There are many stores that offer serviceable, often refurbished used machines, some of them even provide a warranty for use. You’ll also find offers for the most popular motorcycle brands such as Honda, Suzuk , Yamaha and many others on classifieds sites.

There is a high probability that the first motorcycle will be the one on which you will experience your first falls, and you will practice on it the skills you learned during your A-category driver’s license course. Therefore, you must consider the many defects and scratches that will appear on your beloved machine. Buying a cheap used two-wheeler may seem like the logical solution in this situation. However, it is worth taking the help of a mechanic who knows about this type of vehicle and will be able to tell you if it is in good condition and if the motorcycle will be safe to use.

How to choose a motorcycle?

One of the most important things to consider when looking for your first motorcycle on https://motogo.com.ua/ is its weight and dimensions. Not everyone considers this, but it takes a lot of strength and skill to maneuver a motorcycle in parking lots or when parked in a garage. After tipping it is even more difficult to lift it. Therefore, at first it is worth choosing a motorcycle that will weigh no more than 200 kg.

The second point is also very important, is the height. The motorcyclist should be able to freely touch the ground while sitting on the bike. In a situation where you cannot put your foot on the ground, you risk falling, for example when you are braking at low speed. The first motorcycle must therefore be adjusted to your height and strength.

For use in agriculture to move a variety of goods, a three-wheeled moped with a body, equipped with convenient folding sides, is ideal. Moreover, in most cases, the considered models of mopeds can be installed a cabin, which means you can turn this device into almost a full-fledged freight vehicle.

Of course, three-wheeled cargo mopeds – it’s quite a specific kind of device, and therefore it is necessary to choose them competently. In particular, never buy such equipment on little-known manufacturers, in the integrity of which you are not sure. And in addition, choosing such devices, be sure that they were reliable, durable and practical, distinguished by their strength and durability. After all, the load that has to withstand cargo mopeds, as a rule, are quite high.

Of course, today every craftsman is able to construct a self-made three-wheeled moped. However, to cope with the task is difficult enough – for this need to have certain knowledge and skills. In addition, not the fact that the finished device will turn out to be really safe. Therefore, do not try to make, and, especially, to buy a homemade moped – better to take care of the safety of your own life and health.
